The new V6 engine burns oil, and many owners complain that they have to add fluid every thousand miles. Some drivers even report that they had to replace the engine in their pickup, despite the vehicle being only a few years old. In addition to vibrations, the transmission often struggles to select the correct gear or slips, making the ride rough—even in a new truck.
Sunroof failure, 4WD system malfunctions, and body integrity issues are also among the common problems with this model. Additionally, it suffers from electronic failures—a typical Ford issue. The system frequently freezes or stops working, and the starter tends to fail early in the vehicle’s lifespan. Many of these issues were resolved in the 2019 F-150 model.
